Lagos Civil Servants Applaud 15 Per cent Salary Bonus

Some Lagos State civil servants, on Monday, commended the state government’s decision to pay them 15 per cent of their salaries as the end of the year bonus Daily Independent reports.
The workers made the commendation in interviews with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) at the state secretariat in Ikeja.

They said the bonus would inspire them to work harder.

NAN reports that Oluseyi Williams, the state’s Head of Service (HoS), announced the bonus on December 19 at a meeting with principals and teachers of public schools in the state.
She said the bonus would be paid along with the workers` December salaries.
Adewale Kazeem, a staff of the Ministry of the Environment, said the bonus was timely.
“Honestly this is cheerful news for me and my colleagues. The bonus will reduce pressure on our salaries this festive period. I commend the government for this, and it will, no doubt, make the celebration better,’’ he said.

Another civil servant, who gave her name as Monsurat, said the bonus is a pleasant surprise.
“These are trying times; for Governor Babatunde Fashola to come up with this welfare package for the civil savants at a time when some states are not paying salaries, the government deserves great commendation.
