The dreaded Jama’atu AhlisSunna Lidda’awati Waljahad
group, popularly known as Boko Haram, has reportedly launched a new
campaign platform to win people over to their side.
The Islamist sect has now launched a new Public Relation campaign on social media, twitter.
The twitter handle, Alurwa Alwuthqa is claiming to be the mouthpiece of the deadly sect.
Alurwa Alwuthqa, communicating in Arabic announced the sect’s capture
of Monguno and shared photos of child soldiers being trained by the
sect.
The account began tweeting on January 18, and has amassed over 3,000 followers already.
Its first tweet was something about Baga.
The account also has a video interview with Abu Mus’ab Albarnawi, who is claiming to be the spokesman of the group.
The faces of the both interviewer and interviewee were blurred in the video.
There is however no video of the sect’s leader Abubakar Shekau on the account.
The Nigerian Defence Headquarters is yet to comment on the twitter account and its content.
Over the weekend, the town of Monguno in Borni state was seized by Boko Haram insurgents.
Survivors of the attack later revealed how Boko Haram militants plan to further storm other nearby towns before finally launching an offensive against Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
However, the Defence headquarters disclosed that though the soldiers suffered some casualty, more terrorists lost their lives in the fight for Miaduguri.
