9-Hour Gun Battle Leaves One Dead In Ilorin
Security operatives in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital on Sunday killed a notorious hoodlum, who has been terrorising the state and it’s environs.

Vanguard reports that the notorious hoodlum was gunned down in the Pakata area of the city after nine hours of fierce gun battles between a combined team of army, airforce and police and the hoodlum.

Witnesses said an army officer sustained severe injuries during the battle, adding that Anifowoshe community was a theatre of war in the battle between the hoodlum and the security operatives.
Residents of the area were reportedly held hostage for hours, while the main road around the Government Girls Day Secondary School was blocked by the security team, thus preventing traffic movement from both sides.
The suspect, who was reported to be in his thirties, is alleged to have been a policeman from Okene, Kogi state, but rented an apartment for his wife and aged mother in the area from where he has been carrying out his criminal activities.

“In the ensuing crossfire, the suspect was said to have been gunned down, while an unidentified man of Nigeria Army among the security team sustained wound on his arm as a result of bullet fired at him by the suspect. The area became tension soaked while the gun duel, which started around 2am yesterday’s morning lasted till around 11am,” the source said.
However, another witness said the security operatives had been on the trail of the suspect for the past three days.
