Guess What! - The Redeemed Christian Church of God Youths Broke and Made another record

The record breaking and making 73 hours marathon praise, organized by the National Youth Affairs of The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) to commemorate the 73rd birthday anniversary of Pastor E.A Adeboye has come/gone, and oh my was it awesome?!

"That moment”, came for me at about two minutes to the end of the 73 hours marathon praise. With goose bumps all over my raised arms and sweat trickling down like stream on every part of my body alongside the shout of “Arise” renting the entire 5000 seating capacity hall of the Youth Centre RCCG, I was sure God has visited me.

The enduring pure and true worship sessions,  tagged Marathon Messiah Praise,  is an initiative which started in 2012, when Pastor Adeboye, the General Overseer of Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), turned 70 years old.

In 2012, 70 hours marathon praise was held, with each hour marking each year of his life.

So as he marked 73 years this year, a 73 hours of worship was offered on his behalf as a memorial to God.

The 70 hours marathon worship, is the first of its kind, making a record as the longest marathon worship to God. And now, with the 73 hours marathon messiah praise, this record has been broken and another record set in the Guinness Book of World Records..how ah-mazing!

The magnificent Youth centre that hosted the thousands of RCCG youths lays at one extreme of the Redemption camp.  As I stepped into hall, the coziness of the gigantic air conditioners flushed my face at the beginning of the programme.

On citing the jaw breaking stage that was designed by Ultima with various warm and bright lights, I immediately knew this was no joke.

The beautifully arranged stage with splashes of light gave the hall the needed gospel concert glow.

While the ground floor of the hall was opened to all worshipers, the gallery was reserved for media personalities (Like yours truly).

The Dove Media, Redemption TV, Live Way Productions and other independent media persons were in attendance  to pen the details of this auspicious event.

The opening worship and praise session was just soul-lifting. The host choir Marathon Messiah Praise mass choir set the tune of the event, with ecstatic worship to God.

The high praise continued with praise leaders taking one hour each, to lead worshipers into God’s presence.

Ebenezer Obey, Buchi, Bukola Bekes, Yetunde Are, Bidemi Oloba, Enitan Adaba, National RCCG youths and Teens Praise team, Regional Choirs, Big Bolaji, BEEJAY SAX, Femi Okunuga, Taiwo Ibidapo, Tosin Bee, Healing Streams from Daystar Christian Centre, Kunle Ajayi, Perfected Praise Singers, Pastor’s Seed Forum (PSF) and more were some of the performers....BTW, i was hoping to see gospel singer Nathaniel Bassey, I always look forward to his worship session but dude didn't show up :(...it is all good anyway!

The event did not feature praise only, but pure music of different genres - Reggae, Fuji, Chants, Instrumentals, Shouts, Soul music and more.

I particularly enjoyed the reggae session led by Buchi and his team, Evangelist Ebenezer Obey's Juju praise was beautiful too.

Then the Daystar Christian Centre choir, (Healing Stream), came with some sophisticated but anointed praises. They did not disappoint one bit as they rendered worship to God, representing their tush church.

He dazzled the audience with great aptness of gospel Fuji lyrics. Bidemi Olaoba’s ministration took me to the uppermost as he rendered unequivocal thrilling fuji gospel music, quoting Bible passages for almost every song he raised, almost if not everyone who witnessed his performance can testify to this....dude is a divine minstrel, i can only pray God continues to lift him higher and use him marvelously.

I must not fail to mention  Yetunde Are, the daughter of Mama Bola Are, fine woman!

In her orange skirt and blouse with silver shoes and head tie to match, she led unconventional praises to God. And then one of RCCG's key soloist and praise singer, Bukola Bekes also had outstanding ministrations during the event.

The 73 hours marathon praise is not just an event to celebrate with Daddy GO only, but also an avenue to come before God with prayer requests and gifts.

There were baskets placed on the stage for the congregation to drop gift items and prayer requests. The baskets were taken away after Pastor Adeboye came to join in on the programme.

He prayed for the youths in attendance, saying that as they have spared their time to come and worship God, God will also attend to them.

Pastor Mrs Folu Adeboye, wife of the General Overseer of RCCG, also took out time to appreciate and pray for the youths present at the event. Mummy GO who could not hide her surprise on sighting the mammoth crowd said, “I did not know you were this many”.

While some described the event as awesome, others thought it was great, and some others simply thought it was WOW!

Many of the attendees I spoke to, claimed they enjoyed every bit of the sessions BUT urged the organizers to consider bigger space for subsequent editions, adding that the ventilation towards the end of the event was really poor...I totally concur, the crowd and the praise energy pulled a lot of heat literally.....yea, ventilation wasn't too good, it was almost too hard to breath in the hall at some point...but it is all good!

The event came to a close with Pastor Odeshola, one of the Special Assistants of Pastor Adeboye saying the final prayer. I honestly can’t wait for the 74 hours marathon messiah praise already with testimonies to accompany the just concluded one.

73 hours messiah marathon praise was not a concert, it was more than a programme. It was an experience. A world record making experience at that!
